Mental, emotional and physical wellbeing are a pre-condition and goal for positive psychology coaching.
One of the things that keeps Silvia going in her many endeavours is the sheer enjoyment of learning, discovery and supporting the people she encounters!! In positive psychology, this is often referred to as Flow: a “state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter” and that is so enjoyable that they do it “for the sheer sake of doing it” (Csíkszentmihályi, 2002, p. 4).
But wellbeing depends on a balance between getting into Flow and following a passion without exhausting personal energies.
One way for Silvia to recharge her batteries is by making sure there is enough fun in her life. This has brought her to laughter yoga and a focus on the character strength of humour and playfulness. Together with her friend and colleague Jannie Stricker, they have developed a programme to develop a humour mindset and leverage playfulness. This is not about comedy, but about developing a humour mindset for improved coping and resilience but also playfulness in our interactions with others or our “inner critic” for a happier attitude to life.
